Can you promote in r/eventproduction?

r/EventProduction is a subreddit for those of us who plan, coordinate and carry out events. Anything from concerts, to conventions, to barmitzvahs, and more! Talk lights, speakers, staging, security, contract negotiation, venues, whatever.

The short answer

Engage organically with helpful, non-promotional answers; if you need to solicit feedback, post only in the designated megathread and clearly disclose your affiliation.

What works here

  • Answer questions helpfully without promoting a product
  • Post research/surveys or software-recommendation requests in the megathread
  • Share job posts with complete details per rules

What gets posts removed

  • Posting product launches, links, or promotional content in regular posts
  • Using recruitment or lead-gen language outside megathread
  • Posting AI-generated replies without mod pre-approval

Where this comes from

View the current official rules on Reddit

No Self Promotion or Marketing

The rules explicitly remove blatant self-promotion and marketing, so vendor/ founder posts that primarily market are disallowed.

Research/Recommendations must use Megathread

Market research, surveys, and requests for software recommendations (especially from accounts connected to providing software) must go in the megathread, restricting where vendor-affiliated posts can appear.

AI content restriction

AI-generated content is banned unless pre-approved, which affects how automated or outsourced vendor replies should be handled.
