Can you promote in r/dropshipping?
Welcome! Discuss dropshipping here-- tips, strategies, questions, whatever!
The short answer
Respond publicly, clearly disclose your affiliation, keep pitch minimal, use the Marketplace flair for promotional posts and stay within the allowed frequency; never ask OP to DM you before a conversation.
What works here
- Reply publicly with helpful, non-spammy advice
- Promote services/products if posted as Marketplace (low volume)
- Share links in comments when not affiliated only, or in Marketplace posts
- Seek partners or sell services using Marketplace flair
What gets posts removed
- Saying 'inbox me' / 'come inbox' or directing OP to DM before engagement
- Posting promotional content in Discussion or Question flairs
- Excessive self-promotion (more than ~once/week)
- Astroturfing, fake engagement, or linking to AI-generated content as if original
Where this comes from
Marketplace allowed for promotions
Selling services is allowed if flaired 'marketplace' and done at low volume (once/week max).
No directing to private messages
Requests to 'inbox me' or similar are considered spam and lead to immediate ban.
Promotion banned in Discussion
If you post promotional content as a Discussion you will be banned; use Marketplace instead.
Linking rules and affiliation limits
Links allowed only under specific circumstances and often require that OP not be affiliated with the linked content.
Anti-astroturfing policy
Inauthentic engagement or brand rings can get brands banned and mentions removed.
